Synopsis
"Jason Ariaz is not your average 22 year old. He has been genetically and cybernatically enhanced but that’s only the beginning. He is an emotionless extraterrestrial born to human parents and living amongst us. Both him and his implanted thinking computer were damaged on landing and must go through life as less than what they really are. The purpose of their mission: to gain permanent emotions from the more primitive society that is Earth. If he is successful, he will be the first of his species to do so in nearly 200,000 years.
Hope lies in the fact that he is capable of emotional episodes and he has been able to forge true friendships. However, he does have the chance of completing his mission if he can truly care for Ariel, the closest human in his life. But he better know his heart soon. Their lives are in danger of ending tonight, unless he can recover what his species has lost."

Review
*Note that this book was given to me for free via Mr. Arnulfo Cantarero as he requested for a review. I was indeed honored, but that will not convince me to lie about how I feel about the book, but I will be giving an HONEST review.*
This was a short book, so this review will also be short.
Emotions.
Now, let's talk about a book that reminded me that I have emotions. Good ones and terrible ones.
First, the layout of the book was odd. There was a break every two or three sentences. This is not the only book that I have read that had this layout, or at least something similar to it, so it was not completely unusual. But then comes the part where the chapters begin... in the middle. Of. The. Pages.... WHAT? At least I saw punctuation where it needed to be, unlike Cormac McCarthy. I apologize for any harsh comments, but it would look more organized if the beginning of a chapter started on a new page. That is my opinion. Surely others were not bothered by it.
When I first received the book, my first thought was, "Wow, this cover is BEAUTIFUL." And led to me holding, staring, and even smelling the pages for a while. I do that a lot. Judge me. And then my next thought was, "Wow it is a short book." But short books are not always bad! This one was NOT.
Onwards.
This is the first SciFi book that I got my hands on. I was hooked the minute I read the prologue. I wanted to know more, I HAD to know more; I read on. I first found out that Jason, the main character, is an alien with a built-in computer. FREAKING AWESOME RIGHT? I am a lady who LOVES Sci-Fi movies but has never read (as far as I can remember) any sci-fi books, so OF COURSE when I was given the chance to read a book in this genre, I had to. I'm rambling.... Anyway, Jason is quite similar to a human; he bleeds blood, looks like a human, etc. He seems more cyborg—like Cinder— than Alien, but not all aliens have to be green and creepy, demanding to be taken to our leader.
I feel like I did not get a chance to discover who Jason really is, but that could also be part of the being an alien shebang. It adds mystery, which is pretty nifty.
MY FAVORITE SCENE: later on in the book, Jason tries tequila, intending to revisit the same odd feeling he got from peanut butter, which did not end well. I LIKED THAT. I love books that are not always serious and action-packed. I love a little bit of humor—or even a lot—every so often. Thank you Arnulfo!
But this book confused me at times: cop scene/drinking scene. I will not be descriptive or specific because I do not want to ruin the book for anyone.
But this story was interesting. I read my first story in the scientific-fiction genre, and I had no idea what to expect. Aside from a little bit of confusion from a few scenes and slight frustration from the layout, this is a book I recommend, especially if you are an alien-lover. If you do not enjoy the book, at least it will look beautiful sitting on your shelf!
Read on awesome nerds,
Riss
